Feature request @ Gmail: merge contacts

Any time you write an email on Gmail, all the recipients are added to your contact list. So, it’s easy to have:

1. as many contacts per one person, as many email address he has;
2. even more than a contact, for the same person and the same email address, because sometimes email users have a different “from” header, if they’re writing from web or a client, from work or from home, and so on.

For all this reason, I wish there was a “merge contacts” function.

You select all the contact you need to, and click the button “all these belong to a single person”, so that all the sent and received messages were grouped.

Does anybody wish to have this feature?
